When Endurance is Demanded
When continuous traffic or higher demands are expected, your epoxy flooring needs a trowel grade application. This is the optimal system available for maximal durability, making a coating with double the thickness of our usual residential or business process. Floors that support much mass, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, ideally should be coated with trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is specified where concrete contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals is common.
With thicker epoxies comes added time for curing. Ideally, trowel grade epoxy is applied at temperatures of seventy degrees Fahrenheit, or more. Under that, and the epoxy with its clear coat takes longer to cure. Optimal curing time is 8 to 12 hours for each coat. The final cure, when the usual work can begin again, is after seven days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, trowel grade coatings are best not attempted.
Trowel grade epoxies are not for do-it-yourself projects! Skills and experience are essential, as well as high-grade troweling tools. That is why West Coast Epoxy is here for you in Manteca to bring the right materials and crews to do the job when trowel grade coatings are wanted.
