Urethane concrete is the toughest type of coating that West Coast Epoxy can apply. Although a trowel grade epoxy coating is quite long-lasting, urethane concrete (also called urethane cement) is even longer lasting. That is because it uses urethane to bind together an engineered cement powder that when 100% cured has the flexibility of epoxy combined with the strength of concrete. The thickness of urethane cement coatings can be stretched to limits not possible with ordinary epoxy coatings, and the material keeps its ability to be shaped for use with coved and beveled floors.
Applications for Urethane Concrete
Despite the fact that epoxy top coats are ideal for coating concrete floors exposed to cold and hot liquids on a regular basis, the concrete beneath still faces thermal contraction and expansion from the changes in floor temperature. By adding a thick layer of urethane concrete over the floor of such workshops, not only do you strengthen the floor, but you additionally boost its thermal resistance. This makes urethane concrete useful for plants, factories and workshops.
