Sometimes you need more than a concrete repair or a simple change in color and texture. Perhaps you would prefer your concrete floor to sparkle, reflecting light like a mirror. West Coast Epoxy can definitely color and protect your concrete floor, but we can go even further and give it a glassy shine with concrete polishing.
The Polished Concrete Process
Here are the usual steps involved when polishing concrete:
- Grinding – A strong grind of the current concrete eliminates blemishes and ensures the floor sealers stick permanently. We use top quality industrial vacuum equipment to eliminate the dust produced during the grind.
- Leveling – Areas with cracks, deterioration, or faults are refloated to the same level as the rest of the concrete. This way the polish is totally flat.
- Staining – The concrete floor is infused, not just coated, with a color stain of your choosing. Any requested patterns are also added at this time. Stains can be heavy, obscuring the concrete grain, or light, allowing patterns in the concrete to show through like polished wood.
- Clear protective coat – Floor sealers applied on top of the polished floor fill the pores and emphasize the fabulous gloss. These transparent sealers bond to the smooth concrete with great strength, creating a floor that is very low maintenance. For locations where heavy traffic is normal, we apply a thicker coat of protective sealers to compensate.
Once concrete polishing is complete, your reflective, colorful floors are well guarded from stains, scratching, and wear. Cleaning is easier, needing far less care than linoleum, wood, or carpet. West Coast Epoxy offers concrete polishing for floors in homes and industrial or commercial buildings of all types and sizes.
