Urethane concrete is the strongest type of coating that West Coast Epoxy can lay down. Although a trowel grade epoxy coat is very strong, urethane concrete (also called urethane cement) is even more resilient. That’s because it uses urethane to bind together an engineered cement powder that when 100% cured has the flex of epoxy combined with the strength of concrete. The thickness of urethane cement coatings may also be stretched to limits not seen with plain epoxy coatings, and the material retains its ability to be shaped for use with beveled and coved floors.
Best Applications for Urethane Cement
Epoxy coats do a top-notch job of protecting concrete and extending its lifetime significantly. Urethane cement is even better, however, especially for guarding floors from thermal expansion and contraction. If a foundation continually faces temperature alterations due to manufacturing or weather, this coating acts like an added layer protecting the underlying concrete.
