If Endurance is Wanted
Where much traffic or higher demands are normal, an epoxy flooring needs a trowel grade application. This is the best system available for ultimate durability, making a coating with twice the thickness of our usual home or commercial process. Floors that support considerable weight, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, should be layered with a trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is recommended where concrete contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals is common.
With thicker coats comes additional time for curing. Ideally, trowel grade epoxy is laid at temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, or higher. Below that, and the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes more time to cure. Ordinary curing time is 8 to 12 hours for each coat. The complete cure, when average work can begin again, is after seven days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, trowel grade epoxies are best not attempted.
Trowel grade coatings are not for do-it-yourself fans! Experience and skill are necessary, as well as high end troweling tools. That is why West Coast Epoxy is here for clients in Fremont to use the perfect materials and crews to do the job when trowel grade coats are specified.
