Concrete Polishing in Walnut Creek, CA

Polished ConcreteSometimes you desire more than a concrete renovation. Sometimes you want more than a simple change in color and texture. Sometimes you would like your concrete floor to be shiny, reflecting light like a mirror. West Coast Epoxy can certainly color and preserve your concrete floor, but we can go even further and give it a glass-like shine with concrete polishing.

How We Polish Concrete

Here are the typical steps involved when polishing concrete:

  • Grinding – A strong grind of the present concrete eliminates blemishes and insures the floor sealers bond permanently. We use high end industrial vacuum machinery to remove the dust produced during the grind.
  • Leveling – Areas with faults, deterioration, or cracks are refloated to the same level as the rest of the concrete. This way the polish is one hundred percent even.
  • Staining – Your concrete floor is infused, not just coated, with a color stain of your choice. Any needed patterns are also added at this time. Stains can be heavy, covering the concrete grain, or light, allowing patterns in the concrete to show through like polished wood.
  • Clear protective coat – Floor sealers applied above the polished floor fill the pores and highlight the fabulous gloss. These transparent sealers bond to the smooth concrete with terrific strength, creating a floor that is very low maintenance. For locations where heavy traffic is expected, we use a thicker coat of protective sealers to compensate.

Once concrete polishing is complete, your shiny, colorful floors are essentially guarded from wear, stains and scratching. Cleaning is simpler, requiring far less care than carpet, linoleum or wood. West Coast Epoxy lends concrete polishing for floors in homes and industrial or commercial workshops of all kinds and sizes.
