If Endurance is a Demand
Where heavy traffic or higher demands are expected, your epoxy flooring needs trowel grade application. This is the perfect technique available for maximum endurance, making a surface double the thickness of our typical residential or commercial process. Floors that experience great loads, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, ideally should be covered with trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is suggested when concrete contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals is common.
With heavier epoxies comes extra time for curing. Optimally, trowel grade epoxy is applied at temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, F or more. Below that, and the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes more time to cure. The usual curing time is 8 to 12 hours for each coat. The full cure, when average activities can begin again, is after 7 days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, F, trowel grade coatings are best not attempted.
Trowel grade coats are not for DIY fans! Skill and experience are essential, as well as professional troweling equipment. That’s why West Coast Epoxy is here for clients in Blackhawk to use the correct materials and crews to do the job if trowel grade coats are needed.
